Activity Centre Residential

Our oldest students had a fantastic residential trip and took part in a wide range of activities.

Students from Years 10 and 11 went away to the Calshot activity centre near Southampton for five days.  It was a wonderful trip and one where the students learnt to live our core values to the full: resilience, independence, respect, positivity, responsibility and courage.   Students worked as a team and took on leadership responsibilities, whilst having a lot of fun beside the sea.  The weather was kind to us and the sun shone most days.

The activities students and staff took part in included rock climbing, kayaking, a giant swing, initiative testing, dry-slope skiing, snowboarding and archery.  All of the students were able to demonstrate skills in the different activities.  For some, it was the first time they had stayed away from home and they all did brilliantly.  There were no issues with getting students out of bed in the mornings, especially as they were enticed with a full cooked breakfast every day!

Staff were able to take part in the activities too and it provided an excellent opportunity to help cement the good relationships between staff and students and for the students to work with other students they don't normally work with.  We are very grateful to the staff who gave us their time to accompany the students on this amazing opportunity - thank you!
