Inspirational Art

It has been an exciting term in Art.  Students have learnt about different artists, used a range of techniques and been very creative!   See our Art Gallery for more photos and examples of their work.

Apple have been learning different ways to create texture with paper in order to create a collage based on Antarctica.  They learnt to make marbled paper and Gelli prints of snowflakes and have used these to make a collaged background.  They then used squares of paper to decorate a penguin.

Elm class are learning about mountains and have looked at the work of Hokusai.  They learnt to use a grid system to enlarge an image of Hokusai’s work.  After learning how to mix tints and shades, they paint the background of their Hokusai volcano ready for the orange and red mountain to be painted.

Willow and Pine classes have been learning how to make different textured papers and using them to create their own underwater scene.  They have been introduced to the artist Henri Matisse to inspire the shapes they created for seaweed.

Pluto and Jupiter class are learning a number of different skills in the Cake project.  These have included observational drawing of French Fancies, oil pastel doughnuts and monoprints.

Pluto class have produced blind drawings to improve their observational skills.  The paper plate covers their drawing meaning they cannot take their eyes off of the object as they move their pencil.
